“I love working with the wonderful staff, families and volunteers at MCRC. I am especially impressed with and proud of our equine program. My pride and joy comes from sharing the love of horses with our students, and when they discover that they can control a giant animal all by themselves.”

The Equine program at MCRC is a natural fit for Gwen as she has spent most her life taking care of kids and animals. She began with MCRC, as a horse leader and was soon inspired to become a Certified Therapeutic Riding Instructor.

Raised in Minnesota, with six brothers and sisters, many horses, dogs, and other pets, Gwen supported her animal obsession by babysitting and working at the local riding stable.

She married Randall, her high school sweetheart. His education and career as a geologist took them through Lincoln NE, Norman OK, Abilene TX, and to Midland. Gwen has worked as a veterinary assistant, animal control dispatcher, stable manager, and dog obedience instructor. She volunteered extensively while raising their children, Mary and Brian.

Randall and Gwen enjoy taking care of their grand-kids, cats, dogs, horse and yard. Randy likes to play guitar, golf and is a talented handyman. He often fixes or builds obstacles for our arena. Gwen likes to ride her horse, read, search for treasures at estate sales, and practice amateur landscaping.
